Dr. Harald Schöning

Dr. Harald Schöning is Vice President Research at Software AG, responsible for all publicly funded research projects at Software AG. He is member of the board of ITEA, NESSI (Networked European Software and Services Initiative), and the Big Data Value Association BDVA. Dr. Schöning is member of the steering board of the German national platform “Industry 4.0” as well as co-chair of the research advisory board of this platform. He holds a diploma and a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Kaiserslautern, Germany. For more than twenty-five years, he has been working for Software AG, in various roles including developer, project lead, and chief architect, and in various areas, from databases over semantic technologies, to SOA and business process management and beyond. He has served as expert and reviewer for the European Commission and German ministries in several contexts. He has authored and co-authored several text books and many technical papers. Dr. Schöning is inventor and co-inventor of more than 60 patents.
